The Pier

Oceanside has a long history of having a municipal pier dating back into the early 1900’s. From time to time the piers of the past have worn out and have had to be rebuilt. The present structure is the longest wooden pier on the West Coast.

There is something about a pier that attracts people from all walks of life. Perhaps its just rejuvenating to take a stroll out over the ocean and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. Or maybe try a little fishing. One of my favorite things to do on a warm summer evening is to get the fire pit closest to the pier, start a nice fire and just sit and watch the people as they cruise along enjoying their walk….it’s kind of like a human aquarium.

Want to check it out? Go to the pier.

Also, Oceanside is a wonderful coastal community to live in. The people are friendly and the surfing is great.
